Christmas Day Showdown

Christmas Day Pros and cons for each team!

What a gift we have this Christmas with a packed day of games and the main event to end this beautiful Christmas Day!

RAIDERS v. CHIEFS: Start your Christmas with Patrick Mahomes and a AFC west division matchup!

Raiders Pros:

The raiders just blew out the chargers 63-21 and interim coach Antonio Pierce has been getting the most out of his guys. The Raiders since week 9 have only lost to playoff contenders in the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Vikings. Games in which they either lead or stayed within a touchdown of each opponent.

Raiders Cons:

The Raiders have lost 11 of 12 games to the chiefs since Patrick Mahomes took over in 2018z the chiefs have put up at least 28 points in each game against the Raiders in that time frame.

Chiefs Pros:

The chiefs seem to always play their best at the end of the season. The chiefs strength has been on defense this year where they rank #8 in defensive DVOA this year and have been in the top 5 for most of the year.

Chiefs Cons:

The chiefs weakness to no surprise has been the receivers this year. They lead the NFL with 26 drops. This is something they need to fix if they plan on repeating as Super Bowl champs.

CJ’s opinion checklist 👇
  • Better Coach: Andy Reid (Chiefs)
  • Better QB: Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs)
  • Better Defense: Chiefs

GIANTS v. EAGLES: The Eagles look to get back on track against a division rival in the Tommy Devito led giants!

Giants Pros:

After the season looking to be a complete disaster Brian Daboll has done a good job of rallying the troops back together. The Giants have won 3 of their last 4 games. They found a little hope in QB Tommy Devito but I ask myself is Devito for real?? I think not personally and last week showed it a bit against the saints.

Giants Cons:

The Giants are playing for nothing at this point as they have a 0.1% chance of making the playoffs. They do however have a good chance of landing a top 5 pick if they lose.

Eagles Pros:

The eagles have not had to many positive things to look at lately however they have made some changes at the defensive coordinator play calling promoting Matt Patricia to that duty. I feel this will help the eagles in the long term as the defense was just not as dominant as it was last year on their superbowl run.

Eagles Cons:

Man o' man.. is there many here. For starters the Eagles come in losing 3 straight games. To their credit they lost to the Niners, Cowboys in Dallas, and Seahawks in seattle which is a tough environment. The eagles defense ranks 23rd in Defensive DVOA this might give Tommy Devito hope he can move the football on them.

CJ opinion checklist 👇
  • Better Coach: Nick Sirianni (Eagles)
  • Better QB: Jalen Hurts (Eagles)
  • Better Defense: Eagles

NINERS v. RAVENS: In the main event there will be a heavy weight battle to see who really is the best team in the NFL

Ravens Pros:

Lamar Jackson is playing his best football he’s played in my eyes but can he keep it up in the playoffs. The Ravens rank in the top 5 DVOA offensively and defensively.

Ravens Cons:

The Ravens will be without running back Keaton Mitchell who has really changed the ravens offense since he’s been inserted. He added an extra layer of explosiveness to the offense.

49ers Pros:

Well for starters they have two potential MVP candidates in Brock Purdy and Christian Mccafrey. The Niners also rank top 5 in defensive and offensive DVOA. Ranking number 1 overall offensively per those numbers.

49ers Cons:

The Niners have gotten a little thin on defense as Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrove on the defensive end which help clog the running lanes will most likely be out. The ravens love to scheme runs so this could be a problem.

CJ’s opinion checklist 👇
  • Better Coach: Kyle Shanahan (49ers)
  • Better QB: Even (this can be a toss up. I need to see more of Purdy before anointing him)
  • Better Defense: Ravens

Merry Christmas to all of you and I hope you enjoy the day with your families and watching some good football!
