My Lean: Marshall vs. UTSA - Scooters Coffee Frisco Bowl

Marshall and UTSA will kick off the first prime time night of many college football bowl games for us during the week to come. Here’s a small breakdown of each team.

Marshall Thundering Herd

For Marshall coming in to this bowl at 6-6 many of its challenges this season have come on the offensive end of the football pergolas why they’re getting so many points at the time of this article +10. The thundering herd made a change at QB recently which has helped their offense a bit as of late. Marshall leans on its defense which ranks in the top 30 with many defensive success metrics. However Marshall’s defense has allowed many big plays which is its Achilles heel this season on the defensive end.

Injuries or transfers- They will be missing their best offensive lineman Trent Holler he hasn’t given up a sack all season! He will enter the transfer portal as many athletes have been doing in this day and age of college football.

UTSA Roadrunners

The road runners coming in at 8-4 with the better record have a good QB in Frank Harris. Harris is poised and surgical in the pocket and it also helps that the roadrunners run the ball effectively as well. One advantage that the roadrunners have automatically is home field at least a version of it since the game is being played in Frisco Texas which is about 5 hours away from UTSA. My guess is there will be a lot of road runner fans in attendance.

Injuries & Transfer Portals: Trey Moore will be in the transfer portal which is UTSA leading linebacker/ edge rusher he creates a lot of havoc in the backfield.

The total sits at 51.5 at the time of this writing and my guess it’s it might be a tad bit too high for a struggling offense and a UTSA team that might struggle to put up touchdowns instead of field goals this game against a 2-3-5 Marshall defense.

My Lean: Marshall/ UTSA under 51.5

Enjoy the game many more to come these 2 weeks!
